Aftercare with NVW.

NVW believes strongly in supporting clients as they transition back home and into the community.
 NVW offers the
4-Day Refresher Courses, TREXS Program, Adventure Mentoring, in-home or
phone family sessions, primary therapist consults, and attendance at team meetings as aftercare
options.  NVW can offer up to two in-home sessions as part of family follow up for therapeutic
work. (additional fee) Additionally, monthly
4-day Trips are offered and encouraged as aftercare or
a "refresher" for clients participating in an extended expedition.

What is TREXS?  TREXS (Tri-County Experiential Series) is a community-based adventure
counseling program.  TREXS includes an on-going bi-weekly series of group meetings and
adventure-based activities
(such as canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, rock
climbing, etc).
Topics covered during counseling meetings and adventure activities will include
Substance Abuse, family problems, self-esteem, decision making, and more.

The TREXS Program is designed to help the integration of the wilderness experience back to home
life and stands as on-going counseling and experiential programming for graduates of NVW
Extended Expeditions.  TREXS is designed for increased aftercare, transition support, and
community programming. TREXS is aimed at supporting existing therapies and interventions for
clients. TREXS is for youth ages 13-17 who have successfully completed a NVW Expedition.  The
youth must be willing to participate.  Programming will be provided by mental health professionals
and experienced adventure-based counselors. Masters level therapists will facilitate groups once
monthly.  TREXS participants will meet NVW staff at predetermined locations and participate in
these 3-hour sessions.

NVW also offers
Adventure Mentoring as part of our community-based aftercare programming.

New Vision Wilderness is proud of our highly individualized services.

Our Mentoring Program is an excellent opportunity for past group-program participants to build a
healthy friendship with a positive adult while challenging themselves through outdoor activities
and adventure.

Activities include kayaking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, and much more.
