NVW offers a unique and intensive therapeutic process for our clients. The NVW clinical team includes
Field Therapists and Clinical Specialists who are passionate about healing as well as using the outdoors
as their office. NVW also offers Psychological Testing through collaboration with Dr. Mark Bjerke Ph D.
Our Field Therapists are the primary therapists overseeing the treatment plan as well as facilitating
group and individual therapy. Clinical Specialists are high level professionals that incorporate their
specialty skills into our wilderness experiences. This collaborative effort puts NVW atop the national
level of therapist contact time and clinical intervention. NVW follows a Trauma Informed Care model.

Heather Dall, APSW MSW. Field Therapist/Family and Aftercare Coordinator.
Heather received her BA from UW – River Falls and achieved her MSW from The
University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She specialized in Family and Child Welfare.
Over the past three years Heather has worked at a nationally known psychiatric
hospital in the residential treatment program for children and adolescents. She
also has several years of experience working with youth and families in both a
school and recreational camp setting. EMDR, Motivational Interviewing,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - including ERP, Behavior Modification and Trauma
Informed Care techniques are Heather’s main areas of focus. Heather has long
since identified the therapeutic impacts nature can offer individuals and strives
to integrate a comprehensive treatment experience to all NVW clients. E-mail

Jeff Ryan, MA LPCIT CSAC. Clinical Specialist. Jeff is an empathetic counselor
with 10+ years of working with individuals and families struggling with substance
abuse. In addition to his experience with substance abuse counseling, he is a
trained trauma therapist and specializes in a EMDR, (Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing) an evidence based trauma therapy. Jeff, an
experienced outdoorsman, has worked in residential and outpatient settings.
Jeff is very passionate about applying his therapeutic knowledge to working
with youth in a wilderness setting.


Elizabeth Deardorff, APSW MSW. Field Therapist/Clinical Coordinator. Elizabeth
received her BA from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and achieved her
Master of Social Work, emphasis on Child and Family and Mental Health, from
Loyola University Chicago in Illinois. Elizabeth is EMDR trained. She has worked
with children and adolescents along with families in an outpatient agency and
with groups in a school environment. Elizabeth has experience as a YMCA camp
counselor working with adolescents, as well as afterschool programming in
Madison. Elizabeth focuses on self awareness and empowerment as a powerful

Kristen Vesbach, MS ATR-L BC. Field Therapist. Kristen received her BA in
Psychology from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and earned her Master’s
Degree in Art therapy, with an emphasis in community counseling, from Mount
Mary College, Milwaukee. She has worked with children, adolescents, and
families at an outpatient clinic in Milwaukee, as well as with groups of adults
with special needs at a non- profit art center. Kristen also worked as an on call
experiential therapist at Roger’s Memorial Hospital in Southeastern Wisconsin
and has experience as a YMCA summer camp counselor working with children and
adolescents. Her main areas of focus include: art psychotherapy, play therapies,
cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. Kristen
finds that the combination of art, nature, and experiential learning provide a
“hands on” approach to understanding and working through difficult feelings.
She is passionate about guiding individuals on their journey towards self

Dr. Mark Bjerke Ph D. Psychological Testing. Dr. Bjerke is a psychologist who was
licensed and joined the staff of Heinz Psychological Services in 2001. He is a
native of Wisconsin and has returned to this area of the country after completing
graduate studies in Pasadena, California. Dr. Bjerke earned his bachelors degree
at the University of Minnesota. His graduate degrees were earned at Fuller
Theological Seminary, where he completed a Master of Arts in Christian
Leadership and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Bjerke enjoys working with
adolescents and their families in addition to his general practice interests of
depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, couples/family therapy and
neuropsychological/psychological assessment. He is a member of the Wisconsin
Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. His
background and interests also include work in the area of integrating the
principles of faith and psychological practice. This emphasis of integration was
an area of specialized training Dr. Bjerke received in his graduate studies. He
has been involved with publication and presentation of research topics in the
area of neuropsychology. He also places a strong emphasis on lifelong learning in
both professional and personal interests. Dr. Bjerke has been married since 1989
and has two children.


Josh Delahan, LCSW. Clinical Specialist. Josh has been working with children,
families, adults and groups since 1997. Trauma and attachment are two of Josh's
specialties and he is trained in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, HeartMath, the
Stress Model as well as Narrative Attachment Family Therapy. In the past, Josh
has been an AODA counselor and co-developed and directed an AODA day
treatment center that focused on treatment as well as integration of
psycho-social components with academic standards. Josh currently teaches
Psychology and Ethics at Waukesha County Technical College as well as a
co-parenting class for divorcing parents. His continuing studies of the brain,
trauma, attachment, relationships, mindfulness, physics and metaphysics allow
Josh to individualize treatment for a diverse client-base.
Jessica Maltbey, MA. Field Therapist. Jessica received her BA in Sociology from
Carroll College and earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling, from UW
Oshkosh. She began her career working at Head Start as a Family Support
Specialist and a Home Visitor. She spent the last year and a half working in the K-
12 school setting. Jessica has worked with the YMCA and the Wisconsin
Association of School Councils as a camp counselor. Jessica worked with
Chemical Dependency, Love and Logic, and Curriculum Development. Jessica
grew up camping under the stars and is a firm believer that therapy can be even
more effective when done in conjunction with the exposure to nature.
Her most recent ventures brought her to India and Cambodia that have increased
her ability to integrate the diversity of other cultures into her understanding of
adolescents and the family unit. Her mission as a field therapist is to empower
adolescents to create healthy boundaries and develop both personal and
educational goals to help guide them on a path of self-fulfillment.








Colleen McGee Zolper, MA. Field Therapist. Colleen joins the NVW team from
Northern Illinois and holds a Masters degree in Counseling from Northern Illinois
University. She is on her 14th year of direct service working in various
Wilderness Therapy and Environmental Education facilities where she has
facilitated programs on adventure education, individual therapy, group therapy,
outdoor living skills and other self-awareness exercises. Colleen specializes in
trauma treatment and is passionate about using the outdoors as a medium to
foster healing, personal growth, self-reflection, and improved confidence. She
is especially thrilled to be delivering her mission in the scenic Wisconsin
