FAQ's
Where do New Vision Wilderness trips occur?      

Our trips are run across Wisconsin.  Backpacking trips occur in the Kettle Moraine, and the     
Chequamegon Forest.  NVW operates under a special use permit with the USFS.

Does my son/daughter need to bring camping equipment?

No.  Backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, rain ponchos, water bottles, cook sets, and
stoves are all provided.  Clothing however is not provided.  Check the
Winter or Summer Packing lists for what
to bring.

How many youth and leaders are there per trip?

We pride ourselves in having a small student to staff ratio.  Typical group size is 8 students to 2 staff.  
However, smaller groups are run too. This allows for more 1:1 opportunities.

How many youth sleep in one tent?

Students are provided with their own tent on trips.

Are the courses coed?

No. Our trip are run with only single gender groups.  This allows participants to open up more in groups with
less concern about impressing others or other worries that can impede the therapeutic process.

Are meals provided?

Yes, students learn how to cook meals along with other valuable life skills.  Typical meals include
pancakes, oatmeal, bagel sandwiches, spaghetti, burritos, etc.

What if my child has a physical disability?

Our trips are designed to meet individual needs.  We can accommodate most physical disabilities.  
However, some of our trips are more strenuous trips, and require a certain amount of fitness and ability.

What if with my child's has medications?

Trip leaders are trained in medication administration, and all meds are held by trip leaders.

What forms will I need to fill out?

What are the trip leaders qualifications?

Our staff must pass a background check, and screening process.  Each staff must have a college
degree. Each trip has a certified Wilderness First Responder, and Lifeguard trained in CPR.  See our

Is New Vision Wilderness insured?

Yes.  We carry full liability insurance.  

What types of therapy does New Vision Wilderness utilize?

Cognitive-behavioral, motivational enhancement experiential, healing through metaphors, and emotional
freedom technique as well as other experiential therapies.

Does NVW offer scholarships?

Yes.  We offer a limited amount of scholarships annually.  

Do you have a curriculum?

Yes.  Our courses are based on a specific curriculum.

Does New Vision Wilderness have any religious affiliation?

No. However participants commonly return from our trips with a greater understanding of themselves spiritually.
